GRSP Pivots to Virtual Conclave, Postpones Plaza Dedication

Out of an abundance of caution, the leadership of Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Thomasville’s Conclave Committee has decided to shift its in-person Conclave, the opening assembly for the incoming class, August 20 -21, 2021 originally scheduled in Thomasville to a fully online format.

While COVID-19 and the Delta Variant are changing the way GRSP celebrates, it cannot diminish the excitement our program has for the incoming class of students and the dedication of the GRSP Peace Plaza and William A. Watt, Sr. memorial fountain. GRSP plans to welcome the incoming class through a virtual venue August 20-21. All Rotarians, host families, students and alumni are welcome to register for the virtual Conclave at There is no charge for this event. An agenda for the virtual conference will be posted to the website once it is finalized. Friday’s schedule includes district caucus meetings at 3 p.m. and Saturday’s timeline starts at 9:30 a.m. and is projected to finish by 2 p.m. Please share this update with your host families and students as all students are required to attend Conclave.

Previously made registrations for the in-person events for golf and meals made through the GRSP website have been refunded and hotel reservations made at the Thomasville Marriott Courtyard for Conclave have been cancelled by the hotel management.

GRSP upholds the safety of our students, host families, Trustees, leadership, staff and guests. A new date for the GRSP’s 75th anniversary the GRSP Peace Plaza and William A. Watt, Sr., Memorial Fountain dedication with The Rotary Club of Thomasville at the Courtyard® by Marriott® Thomasville Downtown will be rescheduled and announced once it is safe to resume group gatherings.
